... stories in HD
The High-Definition-Projection at the 6th International Media Festival 2011 in Villingen-Schwenningen set standards in the German festival culture. Visual effects were shown on an 18 x 6,25 meter screen with a physical resolution of 3456 x 1200 pixels. The perfection of its design for HD-video and HDAV concentrates the viewers' eyes on the screen. The fascination of these large pictures, some in panorama format, is amazing – you have the impression that the viewers' enthusiasm increases by the minute.
From 1st – 3rd April 2011 the motto is: Tell a Story. This festival motto basically remains the same as for the 5th International Media Festival but with the addition: Stories in HD. At the 6th International Media Festival you can see high-definition-productions from the categories film and audio-vision. This bold and forward-looking step presents a new challenge for the festival culture.
This very trend-setting step is certainly a great challenge for the festival, whose focus is on movies and AV-productions in HD-format. These productions can be submitted classically as one field, or as a panorama production.
The concept of the festival stays the same in basic. The producers hand in their productions for the competition, in three categories (amateur, profi and education). The handed in productions should, like the festivalmotto says "tell a story".
580 submissions for the Mediafestival from all over the world: U.S., Vietnam, Egypt, Russia, China, Australia, Canada,
Spain, Italy, Mexico, Romania, Slovenia, South Africa, Belgium, Netherlands and France
35 multimedia stories are in the running for the "Blue Genius" and attractive prizes.
